How to Get Three Stars in Magnetic Blocks (and Move Up the Difficulty Tiers)

By Muhammad Shahid Khan ¡ ¡ 4 min read

Quick answer

In Magnetic Blocks, three stars reward a clean, fast clear. To get them: study the silhouette for a few seconds before moving anything, place the biggest pieces into the most constrained spots first, avoid trial-and-error dragging, and keep undos and hints for when you are genuinely stuck. Replay a level once you know the solution to earn the stars.

How do stars work in Magnetic Blocks?

Every level can be cleared any way you like. A clean, fast clear earns three stars. In practice that means fewer wasted moves, little undoing, and no long periods of dragging pieces around at random. You can replay any level to improve your rating.

A routine for three-star clears

  1. Look first. Spend three to five seconds reading the silhouette before touching anything. Find the sharp corners, long edges and narrow parts.
  2. Biggest pieces, tightest spots. Large pieces have the fewest places they can go. Place them first, in the corners and narrow areas.
  3. Read the edges. A long straight edge in the silhouette usually matches the longest side of a large piece.
  4. Count what is left. If the remaining gap is small, only a few pieces can fill it.
  5. Avoid dead gaps. Do not leave a sliver no piece could fill.
  6. Let the magnets work. Drop a piece near its place and let it snap, rather than nudging it.

When should I use hints and undo?

Hints and undo are there to keep every puzzle approachable, so use them freely when you are learning. For a three-star attempt:

  • Undo early, not late. If a placement creates an obvious problem, undo straight away rather than building on it.
  • Use a hint on your first try, learn why it works, then replay the level for stars.
  • Turn on auto-rotate if rotating pieces by hand slows you down.
  • Pinch to zoom on large silhouettes so you can see the small gaps.

How do I move through the difficulty tiers?

Magnetic Blocks has 100 chapters across ten difficulty tiers, from five-piece warm-ups to sixty-four-piece challenges. A good rhythm is:

  • Move up a tier when you are getting three stars on most levels without hints.
  • If a new tier feels too hard, go back and three-star a few earlier levels. The patterns carry over.
  • Play the daily challenge to keep your skills sharp between sessions. See building a daily puzzle habit.

Are there multiple solutions?

Yes, for most puzzles. If your approach is stuck, start from a different corner. Players who let go of their first idea usually solve faster. More strategies in 8 strategies to solve shape-fitting puzzles faster.
