Case converter

Convert text to upper case, lower case, title case or sentence case, or to camelCase, snake_case and other formats used in code.

Quick answer

Paste your text and see it in nine formats at once: UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case, Sentence case, and the code styles camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case and CONSTANT_CASE. For code styles, words are split at spaces, punctuation and existing capitals, so userName and user_name both work as input.

How to use it

  1. Paste your text. A heading, a sentence, a variable name or a list of names.
  2. Find the format you need. All nine versions appear at once, updating as you type.
  3. Copy it. Use the Copy button next to the format you want.

Example

One phrase in every format:

Input

hello world from JSONParser v2

Output

UPPERCASE HELLO WORLD FROM JSONPARSER V2
Title Case Hello World From Jsonparser V2
Sentence case Hello world from jsonparser v2
camelCase helloWorldFromJsonParserV2
PascalCase HelloWorldFromJsonParserV2
snake_case hello_world_from_json_parser_v2
kebab-case hello-world-from-json-parser-v2
CONSTANT_CASE HELLO_WORLD_FROM_JSON_PARSER_V2

Common errors and how to fix them

Title Case capitalises "of" and "and"
This tool capitalises every word. Style guides such as APA keep short words lower case; change those by hand.
Acronyms come out as Json or Api
Converting to Title or code case lowers the rest of each word. Fix acronyms afterwards if your style keeps them in capitals.
A property is undefined after renaming
Code is case-sensitive: userName and username are different keys. Use the exact case the API or database uses.
Turkish i becomes the wrong letter
Turkish has dotted and dotless i. Upper and lower case use your browser's language; set it to Turkish for Turkish text.

Frequently asked questions

What is Title Case?

Every word starts with a capital letter, as in a book title. Style guides often keep short words such as of, and or the in lower case; adjust those by hand if your guide requires it.

What is Sentence case?

Only the first letter of each sentence is a capital, like normal writing. Proper nouns need to be capitalised by hand afterwards.

What is the difference between camelCase and PascalCase?

camelCase starts with a lower-case letter (userName); PascalCase starts with a capital (UserName). JavaScript variables usually use camelCase and class names PascalCase.

When is snake_case used?

In Python variable and function names, database columns and many APIs, such as user_name.

When is kebab-case used?

In URLs, CSS class names and file names, such as user-profile.

What is CONSTANT_CASE?

Upper-case words joined by underscores, used for constants and environment variables, such as MAX_RETRIES or API_KEY.

How do I fix text typed with Caps Lock on?

Paste it and copy the Sentence case or lowercase version.

Does it work with accents and other languages?

Yes. Upper and lower case use your language's rules, so letters such as é and ü convert correctly. Hebrew and Chinese have no capital letters and stay the same.

Why did JSONParser become json_parser?

Capital letters mark new words, so a run of capitals followed by a word is split before the last capital. Edit acronyms by hand if you need them different.

Is my text sent anywhere?

No. Everything is converted in your browser.
