WhatsApp link generator
Create a link that opens a WhatsApp chat with your number and an optional message already typed in.
Quick answer
A WhatsApp click-to-chat link has the form https://wa.me/<number>?text=<message>. The number must be in international format with digits only: country code, then the number, with no plus sign, spaces or leading zeros. Anyone who taps the link gets a chat with you, with your message pre-filled, without saving your number first.
How to use it
- Enter your number. With the country code, for example 44 7700 900123 for the UK. Spaces, dashes and the plus sign are removed for you.
- Add a message (optional). For example "Hi, I would like to book an appointment".
- Copy and share. Put the link on your website, in your Instagram or TikTok bio, in ads or in your email signature.
Frequently asked questions
How do I create a WhatsApp link?
Use https://wa.me/ followed by your number in international format with digits only, and add ?text= with a URL-encoded message if you want one pre-filled.
Why is my WhatsApp link not working?
Usually the number is not in international format: include the country code and remove the plus sign, spaces, brackets and any leading zero.
Does the link work on computers?
Yes. It opens WhatsApp Desktop or WhatsApp Web.
Can I use it for a WhatsApp Business number?
Yes. It works for personal and business numbers.
Can an AI bot answer the people who click my link?
Yes. An AI bot on the WhatsApp Cloud API can answer common questions, save leads and hand chats to you. See the WhatsApp & Telegram AI bot service.
Can the pre-filled message be in any language?
Yes. The tool URL-encodes the message, so emoji and any language work.
Can I make a QR code from my WhatsApp link?
Yes. Paste the link into any QR code generator, and people can scan it to start a chat with you.
Can I create a link to a WhatsApp group?
Group invite links are created inside WhatsApp, from the group's settings. wa.me links open a chat with a phone number.
Is a wa.me link free?
Yes. Click-to-chat links are free; conversations through the WhatsApp Business API may be billed under Meta's pricing.
Will people see my number?
Yes. The number is part of the link and is shown when the chat opens.
