Image converter

Convert images between JPG, PNG and WebP, in batches, without uploading them.

Quick answer

Choose your images, pick JPG, PNG or WebP, and press Convert. Use JPG for photos, PNG for screenshots and graphics needing lossless quality or transparency, and WebP for small files on the web. It reads anything your browser can show, including GIF, BMP, SVG and AVIF. Conversion happens on your device, so nothing is uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Choose your images. One or many, in any common format.
  2. Pick the new format. Set the quality, and a background colour for JPG if needed.
  3. Convert and download. Save each image or a ZIP.

Example

Converting a transparent logo to WebP keeps its transparency and shrinks the file:

Input

logo.png
Convert to: WebP
Quality: 90

Output

logo.webp
Same dimensions, with transparency kept.

Common errors and how to fix them

This image could not be read
Your browser cannot open this format, or the file is damaged. HEIC usually only works in Safari.
The transparent background turned black or white
JPG has no transparency. Use PNG or WebP, or choose the background colour.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between JPG, PNG and WebP?

JPG makes small photo files but loses some quality and has no transparency. PNG is lossless with transparency, but is larger. WebP does both, usually at the smallest size.

How do I convert WebP to JPG?

Choose your WebP image, select JPG and press Convert. Useful for older apps that cannot open WebP.

How do I convert PNG to JPG?

Select JPG and choose a background colour, as transparent areas need one. White is the usual choice.

Does converting improve quality?

No. Converting a low-quality JPG to PNG makes a bigger file with the same flaws, and it cannot bring back lost detail.

Can I convert an animated GIF?

Only the first frame is kept, because the output formats here are saved as still images.

Can I convert HEIC from my iPhone?

Only in browsers that can read HEIC, mainly Safari. Elsewhere, share the photo as JPG from your phone, or set the camera to "Most Compatible".

Why did my WebP come out as PNG?

Some browsers, mainly Safari, cannot save WebP. The tool tells you when this happens. Chrome, Edge and Firefox all can.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Your browser does the conversion, so your images never leave your device.

Which format gives the smallest file?

Usually WebP, then JPG for photos. For more savings, lower the quality in the image compressor.

Can I convert a photo to a PDF?

Not with this tool, which outputs images. Use JPG to PDF for that.
