Split PDF
Extract the pages you need or break a PDF into several files, by page range or every few pages.
Quick answer
Choose a PDF and enter page ranges such as 1-3, 5, 8-. One file per range makes a separate PDF for each range, Extract pages puts all your chosen pages in one file, and Every N pages cuts the PDF into equal parts. Pages keep their original quality, and nothing is uploaded, as it all happens in your browser.
How to use it
- Choose a PDF. The tool shows how many pages it has.
- Set the split. Choose a mode, then enter page ranges or a page count.
- Download. Save each part, or all of them as a ZIP.
Example
A 10-page PDF split with the ranges 1-3, 5, 8-:

report.pdf (10 pages)
Pages: 1-3, 5, 8-Output
report-pages-1-3.pdf (3 pages)
report-page-5.pdf (1 page)
report-pages-8-10.pdf (3 pages)Common errors and how to fix them
A range is outside this PDF- A page number is higher than the page count. The count is shown next to the file name.
A range runs backwards- Write the lower page first: 2-5 rather than 5-2.
Frequently asked questions
How do I extract one page from a PDF?
Choose "Extract pages into one file", enter the page number, such as 5, and press Split.
What does 8- mean?
An open range: page 8 through to the last page. Likewise, -3 means the first page to page 3.
How do I split a PDF into single pages?
Choose "Every N pages" and enter 1. You get one PDF per page, plus a ZIP.
Will the page quality change?
No. Pages are copied without being re-rendered, so text and images are unchanged.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The file is processed by your own browser and never leaves your device, so it is safe for private documents.
Can I change the order of pages?
Enter ranges in any order with "Extract pages", such as 5, 1-2, and that is the order in the new file.
Why is a part nearly as large as the original?
Pages can share fonts and images, so a small part may still carry shared data. Run it through Compress PDF if size matters.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
Remove the password first with the Unlock PDF tool, using the password you already know.
Does splitting change the original PDF?
No. You get new files, and the original stays as it is on your device.
How do I put extracted pages into another PDF?
Save the pages you extracted, then combine them with the other file using Merge PDF.
