Image cropper
Cut a photo down to the part you want, freehand, to an exact pixel size, or to shapes for social media.
Quick answer
Choose an image and drag on it to draw the area to keep, then drag inside the box to move it. Pick a shape such as square, 16:9 or 4:5 to lock the ratio, or type exact pixel values for the left, top, width and height. Press Crop to download. The kept area stays at full resolution, and the image stays on your device.
How to use it
- Choose an image. JPG, PNG, WebP or another format your browser can show.
- Mark the area. Drag on the image, pick a shape, or type exact numbers.
- Crop and download. Press Crop image and save the result.

Frequently asked questions
How do I crop an image to a square?
Choose "Square (1:1)". The largest centred square appears, and you can drag to move it.
What aspect ratio do I need?
Common choices are 1:1 for profile pictures and square posts, 4:5 for Instagram portrait posts, 16:9 for YouTube thumbnails and 9:16 for stories and reels.
Does cropping reduce quality?
The kept pixels are unchanged in size, but JPG images are saved again at high quality. The picture has fewer pixels overall, so it may look soft if enlarged.
Can I crop to exact pixels?
Yes. Type the left, top, width and height values. For example, a width of 1200 and a height of 630 fits a social share image.
Does it work on phones?
Yes. Drag with your finger to draw the area.
Can I undo a crop?
Your original file is not changed. Choose it again to start over.
Is transparency kept?
Yes for PNG and WebP images.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Cropping happens in your browser, and nothing leaves your device.
How do I make the cropped image a specific pixel size?
Crop to the right shape here, then set the exact pixels with the image resizer.
How do I hide part of a picture instead of cutting it off?
Use the image blur tool to hide a face or number and keep the rest of the picture.
